
How to prepare the Bûche de Noël, a simple and tasty Christmas cake.
We all know. Our diet goes to archive at Christmas. At least for a few days. There are too many delicacies to taste on our laid tables. Among these, you can not miss the Christmas coffee yule log, a French dessert with an intense and unmistakable taste. Also known as Bûche de Noël or Christmas block, this cake – made with a soft biscuit dough, a creamy filling with ricotta and a chocolatey coffee cover – is quite simple to make at home.

Coffee yule log cake: the ingredients
- For coffee coverage:
2 cups of Caffè Mauro
Fresh cream – 250 ml
White chocolate – 250 g
Butter – 40 g
Sugar – 2 tablespoons
- For biscuit dough:
Coffee – 2 cups
5 fresh eggs
Flour – 170 g
Sugar – 250 g
Baking powder – 1 sachet
Potato starch – 130 g
Marsala – 4 tablespoons
- For cream filling:
Ricotta – 350 g
Chocolate chips – 100 g
Sugar – 5 tablespoons
Marsala – 2 tablespoons
How to prepare the Christmas yule log with coffee
Coffee coverage making
- Prepare coffee with a moka pot
- Coarsely chop the white chocolate and place it in a bowl with sugar and butter
- Heat the fresh cream in a saucepan ‘til it is simmering, then add it to the white chocolate and mix well
- Add coffee and keep stirring
- Once the cream is quite cooled, put it in the fridge for a couple of hours
Biscuit dough making
- Prepare the dough by whipping eggs, sugar, flour, starch and yeast
- Add coffee and marsala, continuing to mix
- Put the dough in a baking tin and bake it for 15 minutes at 180 degrees
- Bring out the dough and roll it on itself
Cream filling making
- Prepare the cream stirring ricotta, sugar and chocolate chips with a whisk
- Unroll the biscuit dough, stuff it with ricotta cream and roll it again
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes
Composition
- Take from the fridge the white chocolate and coffee cover and whip it with a whisk
- Pour it on the yule log cake
- Decorate with raspberries or candied cherries
- Serve your Christmas yule log in a dessert tray
